Based on an Actual Client Testimony

I had a client who’s main goal was to improve posture so that their breathing and lung capacity would improve.  Seems simple, right?  But because of old habits, sedentary job duties, aging and limitations in lung capacity, it was a process.  As we re-trained their posture through Pilates exercises, loosening up tight spots, strengthening weaknesses and training the imbalances, their lung capacity was significantly improved.  So much improved, that they were able to exceed normal values for their annual breath test with zero restrictions!

The doctor’s response — “The straighter you are, the more room your lungs have to function properly.”

Simply put!  But there is work to be done… of course there are simple ways to train posture by standing upright, lifting your chest, keeping your eyes forward– it sometimes takes the trained eye to discover the true imbalances in your posture.  There are movement patterns that may need to fire better in order to strengthen properly.  There may be painful areas that need some problem solving to avoid further injury.  Whatever the need, Pilates and Physical Therapy is a great solution!
